John Bowen, MD

John Bowen, MD

Dr. John C. Bowen received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and performed his residency at Magee Women’s Hospital, University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA.

Upon completion of residency he served as a Staff Obstetrician/Gynecologist in the United States Air Force Medical Corps leaving with a rank of Major.

Prior to joining Associates for Women’s Medicine in 2009, he has served the Hamilton, NY area with 15 years experience in private practice and as a member of the Bassett Healthcare System. As a member of the Bassett Healthcare System he served as President of Medical Staff, Chief of Obstetrics, and Chief of Surgery. Bowen is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Diplomat of the Board of National Medical Examiners.



Melissa Brown, MD

Melissa Brown, MD

Dr. Melissa Brown is a native of Cheektowaga, New York. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She completed her medical school training at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse. She remained in Syracuse to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. After residency, she joined a practice in Olean, New York, and then returned to Syracuse to join Associates for Women's Medicine. Dr. Brown is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Brown is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Vera House. She currently resides in Fayetteville with her husband and daughter.



Suchitra Kavety, MD

Suchitra Kavety, MD

Dr. Suchitra Kavety, has been with Associates for Women's Medicine since completing her residency in OB-GYN at SUNY Upstate Medical University in 2001. She completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Rochester and received her M.D. degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University School of Medicine. She is board certified in OB-GYN by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a native of the Syracuse area, a graduate of Jamesville-Dewitt Schools, and currently resides in Manlius.



Sheena Mathew, MD, MHS

Sheena Mathew, MD, MHS

Dr. Mathew received her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Most recently Dr. Mathew has served the Rochester, NY area as a member of the Unity Health System. Her professional interests include high risk obstetrics; the management of menstrual disorders, uterine fibroid disease; and colposcopy.
